Social Dilemma: Was I Rude to Throw Away A Glass of Box Wine at a Party?

Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Steve and it's about party etiquette. Here's his email: Hi Jaime. My wife and I are in a bit of an argument right now because she thinks I was rude at a party over the weekend. So we went to this party and I brought a nice bottle of wine and the host took it and put it in her wine rack. The party had beer and other liquor but I really wanted a glass of wine. When the host asked me what I wanted I said I’ll just have wine and she brought me a glass of boxed wine that was on the table and I just held it and didn’t drink it. A few minutes later I dumped it in the sink and just had a seltzer instead. My wife told me it was rude to not drink the boxed wine even if it wasn’t what I wanted. I told her it was rude of the host to give me boxed wine and not the wine I brought to the house, which I’m sure they will enjoy when they aren’t having a party. So who is in the right here? Help me out. Thanks ~ Steve I think it would have been fine for Steve to ask for the wine he brought to the party. I would have said, "Can I have a glass of that wine I brought?" No harm no foul there. I don't think he should have thrown away the wine. Sometimes just asking for what you want is the way to go. That's my take. What do you think? Let's help Steve out and let me know on the TRY Facebook page.
