Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Jerry and it's about a situation with your children. Here's his email: Hi Jaime. I'm having a disagreement with a friend of mine and I hope you can use this on the radio. We both have children who are 17 years old. Both good kids. Now I know that they will probably try drinking with their buddies if they haven't already. So I thought it would be a good idea to let them try beer at our home so I could keep an eye on them. My buddy says absolutely no way. He would never let his son or my son drink at his home. I think, if they are showing interest, they are probably going to try it anyway, so I think it's best to let them try it at home where they are safe with us. It also gives us a good opportunity to teach how to drink responsibly. Otherwise, they are going to end up trying it for the first time at a party or in a field somewhere. My friend says no way. It's illegal and he would never condone that. So what do you think? Thanks ~ Jerry. This is a tough one. Jerry is right. If they're showing interest, they will end up trying it somewhere. But I worry that doing it at home is almost saying it's okay, when in fact, it's not, especially at 17. So I'm torn on this one. I look forward to your ideas. Let's help Jerry out on the TRY Facebook page.
