Beginning Tuesday, May 27, the Schenectady city fire alarm pull boxes are disabled of if there’s an emergency, call 911. The boxes are being hooked up to the new Schenectady County Unified Communications Center.

The city will be seeking and designating a qualified outside contractor to do the necessary work to complete the relocation of this of alarm service to the new dispatch center. While the exact date of completion of the work is unknown the goal is 90 days or less, the city said in a statement.
